New Brunswick is the largest of Canada’s three Maritime provinces. It is located under Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula and beside the state of Maine. New Brunswick was one of the first provinces, along with Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia, to join together to form the Dominion of Canada in 1867. New Brunswick has experienced immigration on a smaller scale from all over the world, and today boasts a varied and increasingly multicultural population.

Provincial Immigration Programs

Located on Canada’s east coast along the Atlantic Ocean, New Brunswick offers a distinct way of life and exciting career opportunities. We value the experiences and skills of newcomers. Our provincial immigration programs allow the Government of New Brunswick to nominate individuals with the greatest ability to become economically established in New Brunswick. These are economic immigration programs and are not intended for family reunification, protected persons or for humanitarian and compassionate reasons.

Are you PR ready?

New Brunswick’s immigration program streams are pathways to Permanent Residence (or PR) for foreign workers who have the skills, education and work experience necessary to successfully contribute to the New Brunswick economy:

When applying to many of these programs, you should be PR Ready. This means that you meet all minimum eligibility requirements AND that you have all the required documents on hand to prepare and submit a complete and correct application to the province of New Brunswick and to the Government of Canada.

Being PR Ready means more efficient processing, fewer delays, and a better experience navigating the New Brunswick and Canadian immigration programs. In most cases, this means your application will be processed faster.

Identity documents

You must gather all identity and civil status documents for yourself and all accompanying family members (and even some non-accompanying family members), and you must have these documents translated and notarised if they are not already in English or French.

You and all accompanying family members must have valid passports.

Consult the federal government document checklist to confirm which documents you need to gather and translate.

You may wish to gather your diplomas and other educational credentials to have these translated at the same time.

New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream

The New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream is designed for Foreign Nationals who possess the skills, education and work experience needed to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy. Candidates must meet the program’s minimum eligibility requirements, have a genuine offer of employment from a New Brunswick Employer and have the full intent to live and work in the province on a permanent basis.

This program will also help New Brunswick employers, unable to fill job vacancies with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, recruit foreign nationals and international graduates whose skills are needed in the province.
